Meter Maid Part 2

I woke up at 9:18 today, i'm supposed to be at work by 9:30 -.- so i called my manager about being late, got ready really quick, jumped into my car and got to work by 9:45. anyway, i got kinda busy at work and i forgot to check my car, so by then it's like 11 something -.- so i'm like shit, and j-walked acrossed the street to check on my car... it's one hour parking. i got a ticket -.- i dunno why but i decided to check my tires anyway... but there are no marks. checked both tires again. no marks. wtf? and looked at my ticket, "oh, it's for no front license plate... again" -.- that totally sucks. stupid brother.

so while i'm looking at the ticket, this guy came up to me and asked me, "are there any marks?" "oh no, it's a ticket for no front license plate." he start telling me how if i put my plate on the dashboard, it's not legal but it prevents the ticket, he said. and then he told me how he's gotten two tickets on the same day on that side of the street. mentioned how there are no marks, they are getting lazy marking them. (carlos' incident popped in my head) and then complimented my car, said good luck, and went on his way...

so lunch time rolls around and i'm standing outside waiting for my coworker to come out... while enjoying the five min sunshine... and i noticed the car parked in front of our building got a ticket. so i got curious and checked on his tires.... two... three... times... no marks. checked his ticket to see why he got it: over one hr limit. OK... where's the mark? then i realized the car behind it also got a ticket, no mark either. WTF? so i'm walking around back and forth checking all their tires. NO MARKS! my coworker walked out and said, "are you lost?" so i told him about my situation and i'm wondering how they mark it... and the more we walked down the street, about 90% of the cars on it got a ticket. NO marks on their tires. our street got attacked. good thing i didnt park on my side of the street today. but i wondered how the hell they are doing it.

i checked the bumper to see if they marked there... not that i can see... wtf? i dunno how they do are doing it? are they seriously writing down discription or/and license plate number for each car? or are they just giving out tickets if it SEEMS like they've been there a while?

Edited: the same coworker i went to lunch with gave me a piece of paper that talked about electronic tire marking. it's a pdf file, fyi

With ParkTrak Pro’s handheld License Plate Recognition technology, a flick of the chalkstick is turned into a click of the trigger. Each click records plate, date, time, and location, while simultaneously comparing duration of stay, distance moved (if any), and scofflaw status. Officers are automatically prompted to issue a ticket when a vehicle reaches overtime status. Flexible software allows for an individual license number’s total time duration to be calculated by stall, block face, street, programmable distance or zones. Added benefits include capturing a wealth of parker statistical data, and best of all electronic chalk marks… THAT CAN’T BE WIPED AWAY…

haha.

i bet i know how they're doing it.
(they do this in monterey)

they have this new tricky electronic thing...instead of marking the tires, it takes a PICTURE of the back of your tire. and then when they come back around, the little smart electronic thing will match the picture to your tire...and then they give you a ticket if your time is over.

damn technology! what are they gonna come up with next?

a picture of your tire? and not the license plate? doesnt make sense! what if i move the car a little back?

You really shouldn't put it in the dash. Imagine when an accident comes, and the liscence plate flies off. It's like a piece of razor sharp metal flying at you at like 50mph. O_O

yes, i can tell you that is how they are getting people who abuse 1 hr parking....with that tracking thingy.

and putting the plate on the dash doesnt matter anyways. i still got a ticket for that. if you dont mind wasting your time and going to the police station to correct it, then wasting 37 cents for a stamp and mailing to dmv. that's how you would get that ticket problem fixed.
