as you know, the holidays are here. and i've been saying "have a safe and happy holiday" a lot. today i got a christmas email and he ended it with "be safe" and then it made me wonder. why do we always say that? be safe. have a safe holiday. i mean. if i remember correctly, we dont say it for any other holiday. we dont go "have a safe and happy birthday" or "happy birthday! be safe!" LOL "happy easter! be safe!" "happy valentine" "happy chinese new years!" "happy thanksgiving!" so what's up with that?

bc this time of the year is the most dangerous?
so this year i decided to pw lock my iphone for a couple of reasons. 1. if it gets stolen or lost, no one can use it to it's full advantage! (altho i am not sure if they can erase everything without the pw?) and 2. even tho i got nothing to hide, i like to know when ppl are using my phone.

but recently i had a convo with mandy and she said that there's a downside to this. her friend lost his phone the other day but was found by a good samaritan that called "home." i actually did that before (found a phone and called to see if anyone can pick it up). so if you're lucky, it can travel back to you. and also, if, god forbid, anything were to happen to me, EMT can call my family members while i'm unconscious. how would they know who to call? simple, under my mom's name i put "I.C.E." which stands for in case of an emergency. i did this before i pw locked my phone. now she's still I.C.E. but it doesnt matter LOL

so what's your take on it? to lock or not to lock?

so i've been looking for a 16 gig memory stick for my new camera. on ebay someone listed "AAA 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark2 16 GB Card For PSP". huh. what does AAA mean? the guy is selling a bunch of these memory sticks and they all have "AAA" in the description. out of everyone, he is selling them for the cheapest. so per frank's suggestion, i emailed the guy and i asked "what do you mean when you put "AAA"?"

the guy responded with "yes" .......... LOL huh? his email is all in chinese and with a double check, i realized that he's from china. ok, no biggie.. so i elaborated it a little "i dont understand. i am wondering when you put "AAA" on your subject line, what does AAA stand for?"
he responded with "Hello. This is: "AAA" means that upper exemption product, understand it? Thanks"

at this point i'm left pretty speechless and figured to not buy it from the dude lol also after telling frank this, he told me i should never buy electronics on ebay from hk or china anyway. we joked around how i should respond with something totally random like what he did with me when he said "yes". so i said to him, "license" you know, just being random... and he responded with " :| yes" LOL wtf.

recently an acquaintance of mine got engaged. i am not close to him so i would not be surprised if i'm not invited to the wedding but i am close enough to congratulate him personally in regards to it.

a mutual friend of ours posted a video of the guys get together... i guess for him to announce his engagement. in the video, camera man asks engaged guy, "are you excited?!" and the engaged guy goes, "uh... sure..." LOL he does not look excited at all!!

then the camera man proceeds to ask the other guys around the table what they think about marriage. all the single guys said, "dont get married!!!" the only guy who gave it a thumbs up is engaged also haha! but he doesnt seem too excited either!

then it got me thinking, "do guys act like they dont wanna get married bc they truly dont wanna get married?? or do they act like they dont wanna get married bc all the other guys act like it's a bad thing and they dont wanna be the outcast that's happy to find someone that they wanna spend the rest of their lives with?"

and if they truly dont wanna get married, i ask why? what's the big deal if you do get married as opposed to not? bc honestly, i dont think there's too much of a difference btwn being married and being in a serious relationship. really. and if it really is about being tied down and playing the field and such, why do ppl wanna play the field so much??

memorial day wknd was a blast. i'll post it up here for me to look back on. to start off, i got friday off. so i had a four day wknd!

thurs night
molly and i did last min shopping for our costumes. we then went to olive garden for dinner. that place may not be the greatest, but we like it there. it's sorta like the place we like to go for our sister dinners haha

ken called me after dinner to see if i wanna have dinner with him and an old friend that i havent seen in over half a decade. since i already ate, we met up for dessert instead. it was nice to catch up. afterward we went bowling and played 4 games. it is unfortunate that i did not have my shoes :/ but thank god for working out often bc i didnt feel it at all haha i remember i used to feel it in my arms. i give rock climbing the credit lol

fri
i had lunch with frank. it was nice hanging out with him before he went to japan. afterwards, went furniture shopping with jen for her new place. furniture shopping is always fun lol one particular item she wanted was available in walnut creek so we head over there. since i was there already, i stopped by jonathan's work to say hi. another old friend i havent seen in a while :) furniture shopping took way longer than expected lol

that night i head over back to the city to meet up with calvin and greg for some drinks. we went to bourbon and branch, which i've been wanting to go. it's a speakeasy place. it was 1920's theme and had hidden doors to private rooms. very cool lol even tho i was not much of a drinker, i liked their unique drink selections. also the servers were very nice!

sat
was fanime! my sister and her friends had a kuroshitsuji meet. afterward, they had a tea party. it was a lot of fun taking pics hahahaha bc their characters are so funny. we had this camera man following us around. it's too bad we didnt get his card!

then not long after, there was the masquerade. it was especially better this year than last. oh crap, I LOST THE GAME! (HAHAHAHA) a lot of the skits were fun and funny.

this was one of the best ones
<lj-embed id="56" />

sun
again, was fanime! hehe we had a macross frontier meet. it's so fun to watch everyone dance to nyan nyan lol

in the evening, we had a black and white ball. met a new gal who was outgoing and cool there. she had this brilliant idea that we should all do a particular michael jackson triller move (teh beginning) and see how many ppl would follow us. we got HALF the dance floor to do it! it was so funny!! what a sight!

molly and her posse said they had more fun at the black and white ball than at their prom haha!

mon
last day of fanime, they close at 2pm. so we were just there for last min purchases. after that we head over to bert's place for his memorial day bbq. always good to see the south bayers again! regina brought over rock band so for most of the night, we were just focused on that haha

it's funny bc my sister and windy was in costume. so everyone was a little confused haha food was great. as always

i had so much fun that wknd. i think it just makes me happy to be able to see so many friends. then to see molly, violet, windy and karoline so happy at fanime. i feel like i really am the older sister of them all. and it makes me happy to see them happy.

this wknd is another fun jam packed one! i'm sure i'll have more fun! whoo hoo!

so recently a friend of mine have been trying to convince me that he's "nice." i'm not sure how it started lol but that's not the point. i mean, in all honestly, he is, to me at least. but i tease that he's not lol and i would always joke to him to send me flowers. but of course he never does.

today he did say something to me that was nice. so i said to him "that's nice of you" and he said "see. i am nice" and i said "you're just saying that to get on my good side" and he goes "i already am" then i said "no you're not, you dont send me flowers when i asked. anyone else would" and he laughs at that comment.

with that said, i decided to prove him wrong. i asked three guys who were online at the time. the conversation went a little something like this:

guy one
me: hey can you send me flowers
guy 1: of course. can u pick your own flowers?
me: hahaha of course. send it to myself
guy 1: That works!

guy two
me: hey, can you send me some flowers?
guy 2: was that meant for some other chat window? lolol
me: lol no i'm asking you
guy 2: sure
me: cool

guy three
me: hey, can you send me some flowers?
guy 3: sure. what kind of flowers do you want ?

of course i told them not to. but it's nice to know i got some friends out there that are willing to do that with no questions asked HAHA!

on mother's day i took my family out for some vegetarian japanese dinner hehe (i was impressed by the many selections!)

while we were driving there, we came across a place with a very long line. we were all like "what are they waiting for?" the store was called "home made ice cream"... so yeah... around 7 pm, there is a hecka long line for ice cream! wth, do ppl eat ice cream for dinner on mother's day?!

anyway, after dinner, my mom was thinking about dessert (even tho she's full from dinner lol) and my dad suggested the ice cream place with the long line.

while my dad was parking, my sister said, "maybe it's not really an ice cream shop. maybe it's a club called 'ice cream'" and i said, "the word 'home made' is on top of the name tho". and my sister's all like "it could still be a club"

thought that was funny. "let's hit up home made ice cream tonight" LOL!

if you're wondering, we got a kid's size and two singles. which really means we got 5 flavors: salted caramel, honey lavender, roasted banana, strawberry and cookies and creme. hehe they were all very good.

so i know i'm totally jumping the gun here... and no wise jokes about when you're getting the invitation! but recently conversation has came up for me about adopting. no. not with me and j! but with me and other friends about their friends. recently i've been hearing stories about ppl adopting. and i'm not sure if it's bc it became more popular recently to adopt or it's always been the same but i'm at an age where ppl are adopting now... either way. it's got me thinking.

maybe when i'm married and stuff, i should adopt. the other day my friend was telling me that the population has doubled, tripled, some big number since the 90s. i said "well that's bc ppl are living longer now, diseases that are killing ppl before we've found cures for, etc". and another friend in the convo said, "why not just adopt then?"

and i thought, yeah, why not? there are tons of orphans out there that need a home. i'm almost certain that if i were to adopt, i would love him/her as my own. so why not? i can skip the 9 mo process. the "morning" sickness. the cravings. the weight gain. etc etc. and most importantly, some lovely kid, who deserved to be loved, will have a home.

so even tho the process to adopt a kid is a lot of work, i think down the line, it seems to have more pro to adopt a kid. but i'm still sitting here thinking i want to give birth to a kid. it's kinda weird.

i guess i want to go through the whole process of feeling him/her kick me. the feeling i get the first time i lay eyes on him/her and the first time holding him/her....

well, as i said, i'm totally jumping the gun. let's take it one step at a time hahaha not to mention, it's totally two ppl's decision, not mine lol unless i never get married :X

a friend msged me today and asked me a question. he asked me, "yes or no: would you break a finger of yours for a million dollars?" (he might blog about it too, so if you have him as a friend, you know who i'm talking about)

what's your answer?

without hesitating, i said yes. he was disappointed in my answer. he said that he would never deliberately break his finger for a million dollars... nor a billion or a trillion. bc he doesnt know if it'll ever heal properly. he personally doesnt think it's worth any value to take that risk.

i can see his side, but i dont think it's fair to be disappointed in me bc i said yes. he said it's bc we view a million dollars differently and/or the value of our fingers. i agree with him. prob both.

the reason why i would do it is bc for one) breaking a finger is quite common. i dont find it a big deal. it happens all the time to everyone on a regular basis. ppl get it playing football, basketball, etc. and it heals. yes it's not guaranteed that it'll heal properly but, dude, it heals. i've cut my finger before, gotten 5 stitches on it and i was able to function without it for wks. one broken finger wont affect my life style. (i mean if it was cutting off a finger or cutting off my leg, i would say no lol)

but also bc, most importantly, when i think about having a million dollars, i think about paying off my car, helping my parents, etc. a million dollars can ease off some problems for me. and esp. in times like these, it's good to get that much money for such a small price to pay. money isnt everything, but without it, there's a lot you cant do.

what do you think? am i being realistic here or do i put money on a too high of a pedestal (and my finger on a low one)?

p.s. it depends on the finger too haha i would give up my 4th finger (ring finger). DEFINITELY NO on the thumb.
